Twitterific Year

Twitter is officially the wordiest word of the year. It is the most used word of 2009 apparently, beating N1H1, Stimulus, and Vampire. To determine what were the most used words they used a program that analyzed how many times each word was used in the media.

The New British Internet Act

Those Brits are at it again, trying to oppress their people. England is, supposedly, going to implement new laws that will punish people for downloading copyrighted material. If they first catch you then they make your internet provider put a cap on your bandwidth. Second time they catch you its another warning. Third time it's game over, they take away your home internet.

I say we have another revolution.

The Pirate Bay is trying to make their image more Dutch friendly. They will stop hosting torrent downloads on their own site. Instead people will have to download straight from other people.

Just like a big brother that destroys your best dolls....

Fox has canceled Joss Wheadon's show Dollhouse. For those of you who don't know who Joss Wheadon is, he is the greatest man in hollywood ever. He made the amazing series Firefly, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, and re-wrote Aliens (which was previously un-shootable). Dollhouse DID have a cult following, but I can see why fox would cancel it. Most Joss fans hope that this cancelation will give him time to start on the sequel to his internet hit, Dr. Horribles Sing-A-Long Blog.

CoD 4.7million: Modern Sales

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2 (CoD 6?) made history by selling 4.6 million copies opening weekend. This isn't only the fastest selling video game, but the biggest entertainment launch ever, EVER! Making 310 million dollars for company Activision (the publisher).

Read it.. er.. I mean Reddit

Reddit is probably one of the greatest websites ever. Ok maybe not ever but it is still pretty great. Reddit is a site where people think things from around the internet. The things linked are then voted on bye the users so you only see the best of the best on the front page. I have spend a good portion of my life on this site, and I only discovered it a year ago.

Note: They are largely left wing, atheist, cat-lovers, and bacon lovers. Seriously they love bacon.

They are also the nicest people on the web :D

(Btw I am not saying the above mentioned things are bad, I support all that thing (including bacon) but just wanted to make sure everyone knew what they were getting into)

BestRent

Best Buy will soon start a digital delivery service for Movies, T.V., etc. It seems odd that Best Buy one of the biggest DVD sellers in the world has switched to rental.

Modders now Banned

People who own a modded Xbox 360 will not be allowed to access Xbox Live services. Modded Xbox's allow people to played hacked/modded games, as well as sometimes cheat. Unfortunately the only way to get back onto Xbox Live is to buy a new Xbox.

The PSP Go doesn't go in Japan

The PSPGo didn't sell well in Japan. Only 28,275 sold in Japan on the consoles release date. But the (normal) PSP has sold 12,797,180 units in Japan since its release date in 04.

The Good, The Bad, The Google nav

So I heard that Google navigation has its good and its bad. First the good, it's free, and it has live traffic, over-the-air maps, multiple visual layers, search along routes, etc. Pretty damn impressive. But, unfortunately, the text search sucks because it searches from various sources, which will overlap which is bad.

Farmers

I just found out something today... FarmVille players out number real farmers by 60 to 1. Kinda sad really, I'm sure if they took all the FarmVille players and had them work on real farms they would be A LOT more productive.

Finnaly a brave democrat

Democratic House member Grayson (don't know his first name) has showed us democrats CAN be brave (I am a democrat don't worry). He said that essentially the Republicans health care plan is for people to die quickly, the R's demanded an apology so he goes on the ground and says sorry to the 47,000 people who died because they had no health care

Wasteland Psycho

Alexander Gambotto-Burke has taken up a personal mission. His mission, to kill every single person (npc's) in the very popular game Fallout 3. The game takes place in a post apocalyptic wasteland (set around Washington D.C.) and gives players options between being bad or good. So Alexander decided "why not kill every body in the game (which you can do (except children))." He is doing it for the fun, and to spite those snooty pundets that say video games are "evil"

Cool New Apple Stuff

After watching the recently revived Steve Jobs present all the new apple stuff I am pumped. You can now manage your iPhone apps using iTunes on your computer. Speaking of iTunes has ALOT of new features. You can now set up a home network so you can download music off your brother/mother/father's computer. You can also play that music from your computer. Anyway that's all I've got for now, more to come tomorrow.

BY THE POWER OF GREY SKULL!

The He-Man movie is canceled. Matell and Warner Bro. have ended production of the He-Man movie. Matell till owns the rights to a He-Man movie though, so hope is not yet lost, but this is a huge set back. But seriously, would a He-Man movie really be... good?

You can now read Marvel comic on the internet. And it's legal. A good portion of them are free, but you can pay for a subscription if you want even more, it's 5 dollars a month for an annual fee, and 10 dollars a month if you just wanna pay month by month. The interface works really well, allowing you to zoom in to panels and word bubbles. WAY TO GO MARVEL!

Walt Marvel

Disney bought out Marvel... the reaction from most fans is "WTF" and I kinda agree. Unless marvel makes some badass Alice in Wonderland/Snow White/Beauty and the Beast comics. I'd read those.

A new investigation by Wired magazine discovered that the FCC can legally search your home without a warrant if you own a cell phone, wireless router, or just about any wireless device (including garage door openers). This makes me very VERY scared.

Geico Goes Viral

Youtube's new ad campaign with Geico is entertaining to say the least. The whole premise is to spoof many viral YouTube videos (such as Numa Numa, and 1 picture a day for 2 years) using the Geico Gecko. The link for the videos can be found here. So far the Numa Numa video is my favorite, and I hope they make more.

IE 8

Internet Explorer 8 released today... exciting... I personally prefer FireFox, but hey the new IE looks ok. I mean it has color labels for bookmarks and stuff so you can easily find things. It will show bookmarked pages in a thumbnail picture that drops down. In addition it is supposed to block 2-4 times more pop-ups than other browsers. But still... no plugins... :(

The New Shuffle

The New iPod Shuffle is really small. Like really small. Like smaller than a AA battery. That is ridiculous... Plus it has no buttons, just a touch sensitive pad thing connected to the headphones which is used to skip to the next song, or pause/play.

YouTube VS The UK

Youtube is banning thousands of videos from be played in the UK. The reason for this; the UK's performing arts institute demanded a fee of money every time a music video was played, so YouTube was like, pshhhhh! I don't need you filthy UK!!!

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Rock Band

Today (or maybe yesterday) The Beatles version of Rock Band was officially announced(though many rumors had been spreading around beforehand, so this isn't exactly news). It is said to have an actual story (*GASPS*), showing the rise and fall of the most famous band in friggen history (when you fail does Yoko come on stage?) and have new instrument models based on the ones used by the bowl-cut 4. So now you can play "With a little from your friends" WITH a little help from your friends, get it, get it huh huh...

Safari 4.0 *cough* beta*cough*

Apple released the brand-new, faster than ever, SAFARI INTERNET BROWSER! ...well er its still in beta... even in beta though it is still very very good. It does load favorite pages super duper fast (though non-favorite pages seem to take a little longer than usual, but hopefully this will be fixed on the official release). The cover flow is also just plain awesome! It makes everything feel arty and fun and I love it. I only have 1 complain, the refresh button, it took me so long top find it, they moved it from next to the X (stop loading) button and is not on the right side of the address bar. Plus now that I think about it, I hope safari doesn't catch google syndrome and stay in beta for a million years >.>

O hai

I will Watch the Watchmen... twice

Everyone in the internet/comic-geek/anything-that-is-nerdy communities have heard of the Watchmen movie (based on the graphic novel written by Alan Moore (the only comic book to be on the New York Times top 100 books list) ). It is scheduled to release March 6 (2009 if ur reading this from the distant future), BUT producers are saying that if it does well enough they will release the directors cut in theaters early July (I have never heard of this happening before, but hey I will go see it twice). Plus the DVD will feature the pirate comic-story (its a comic within the comic).

"Who Watches the Watchmen?" - Watchmen Comice (it is also their poster logo for the movie)

Facebook undo

Facebook is undoing its recent change to its terms of service. The change sparked controversy from its many users, stating that all status updates, photos, and videos uploaded belong to facebook even after the account is deleted. Now that they have deleted it though, users are much more happy (including me :)

Pirates are teh winorz

The Swedish company that was suing pirate bay dropped their charges. The original charges were accessory to breaking copyright laws, they now have been changed to "Making illegal material available" a much less serious charge.
