On Avatar and the Oscars

So as you probably know Avatar won the Golden Globe(s) for both Best Directing and Best Drama. This is ridiculous on so many levels. First off its an ANIMATED movie, not a movie with special effects; if a movie is more than 50% special effects its animated, ok? Second it was in no way the best directed film of the year, it shouldn't even have been nominated. It has an obvious and unimaginative story, with no dynamic shots or anything else that would signal good directing. It's strengths lie in its acting and special effects, this definitely earns it best produced movie of the year. As far as Best Drama lemme tell you something, the Golden Globes is supposed to be the international perspective on the movie industry. James Cameron said so himself. Avatar tells a very American story, with very American values/characters. Lets take Inglorious Basterds, it is an amazing movie and a great example of international story telling. It tells a very European love story (via the Nazi, Theater owner, Black guy love triangle) and provides a very exciting and fun American war story (that at the same time satires the genre, and how America thinks of itself in WW2). Also District 9 was essentially an immigration story, that was awesome. District 9 also did special effects better... just saying.

ANYWAY, you might be asking yourself "why is he saying all this?" The answer, The Oscars. The Oscars are coming up and either Avatar or Hurt Locker are going to win best film, and neither deserve it. I can't argue against them winning, since its really all opinion, but I CAN argue over the Golden Globes. So I have run out of stuff to say, so bon nuit, bon nuit to you all.
